Unleashing the Power Within: A Guide to Creating Vision Boards

Unleashing the Power Within: A Guide to Creating Vision Boards

It’s the start of a new year and I don’t know about you but I am in full goal setting mode. January is the perfect time to slow down and get intentional with what you are looking to manifest in the upcoming year. I’m super visual so I find a powerful and creative tool to do this is to create a vision board. We all know that in a world full of distractions, finding clarity and focus on your goals is incredibly important to successfully achieving them. In this post I’ll share what exactly a vision board is and how I create them.

What is a Vision Board?

Let's start at the beginning. A vision board is a visual representation of your goals, dreams, and aspirations. It's a collage of images, words, and affirmations that speak to your heart and soul, serving as a daily reminder of the life you're working towards. You can make a vision board as big or as small as you want, or even put it in your journal. The key here is that once it is done, you place it in a location where you will see it often.

How does a Vision Board work?

A vision board works because of the power of visualization. By creating a visual representation of your goals and keeping it in a location where you will frequently see it, you stimulate your mind, cultivate positive thinking, and attract the energy needed to bring your aspirations to life.

What do I need to create a Vision Board?

Let’s start with the essentials - you’re going to need scissors, glue and the actual board itself. The size of the board is up to you. I love to use XX size, I get them from the dollar store. You’ll also need collaging materials. This is where you can get really creative! I love to tear up old magazines of course (check your local thrift stores for cheap magazines). You can also print out pictures from Pinterest or Instagram, anything that you feel resonates with what you are looking to manifest in the new year.

How do I create a Vision Board?

The first step to creating a vision board is to reflect on what you want out of the year. Take some time and identify both short-term and long-term goals, dreams, and desires.

A helpful way to do this is to think about your goals in categories such as career, relationships, health, and personal development. This helps structure your vision board and give you an idea of what kinds of words and images you will need.

Next you’ll need to curate your board by selecting images and words that resonate with your goals. Whether it's cutting out pictures from magazines, printing images from Pinterest or Instagram, or crafting your own, let your intuition guide you.

Finally infuse your vision board with affirmations and positive phrases that align with your goals. (I love the practice of picking one or a few words to define your year.) These words act as powerful motivators and are a great way to realign yourself when you feel like you are in the weeds.

There are no rules when it comes to creating your vision board. Embrace your creativity, experiment with colors, and let your intuition guide you. This is a reflection of your dreams—make it uniquely yours.

What do I do with a Vision Board?

In simple terms, display it! Once your vision board is complete, find a location to hang or place it where you will see it often. Whether it's in your bedroom, office, or a dedicated vision space, let it serve as a constant source of inspiration. I hang mine in my studio so I can see it every time I’m creating.

Once you have found a place to keep the board, take a few moments each day to reflect on your goals, visualize success, and affirm your commitment to manifesting your dreams. This is the key to the success of a vision board. Visually seeing your goals and dreams for the year helps to keep them front of mind.

Creating a vision board is a powerful act of self-discovery and manifestation. It's not just about crafting a beautiful collage; it's about tapping into the energy of your dreams and bringing them to life. As you embark on this creative journey, remember that the power to shape your reality lies within you. Unleash that power, visualize your path, and watch as your dreams unfold before your eyes. Happy manifesting!
